\tMeeting a stranger from a dating app can be dangerous. Meeting a hundred strangers in a hotel basement from a dating app is something else entirely. On March 24th, dating app Bumble teamed up with music event startup Sofar Sounds to host an anonymous \u201csecret concert\u201d at the Studio Allston Hotel. They transformed the space\u2019s basement into an intimate, relaxed, and supremely cozy live environment, lining the carpeted floor with pillows and picnic blankets so the strangers in attendance could get closer to each other.<\/p>\n

\tAnonymity was the name of the game at this event, and until the night of the gig, information was deliberately sparse \u2014 until the performers took to the stage, I didn\u2019t even know who was performing. On the bill were, in order of appearance, G Lun\u00e9, Berklee\u2019s premiere vibe curator (and previously featured performer at Noise Complaint Productions\u2019 debut show), Tiny Habits, a vocal and acoustic trio also from Berklee, and Juniper, an established local group who synthesize blues, jazz, and effortless groove into a smooth and seductive sound. Each band played a bite-sized twenty minute set, more than enough time for them to set the mood for a crowd of strangers to get closer to both the music and to each other. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
